Build Confidence On Busier Roads

 

This course is taught to National Standards Level 3, taking riders out onto more complex, busier roads and junctions, sometimes with speeds over 30 mph, building further confidence and understanding of the rules of the road.

Overview

  • Your child is taught by a qualified instructor 1:1 or in small groups (maximum 3)

  • The course is 2 hours

  • Lessons are taught on busy roads with simple and complex junctions, sometimes with speeds over 30 mph

Requirements

  • A bike in working order, comfortable clothing, sensible footwear and a helmet

  • We can supply a lightweight bike and a helmet for your child to use (by prior arrangement)

  • This course is aimed at riders aged 11 or above who have previously completed either a Junior Pedallers Silver, Junior Pedallers Ruby, National Standards Level 2 or Bikeability Level 2 course

Outcomes

By attending a Junior Pedallers Gold course, your child should be able to:

  • Prepare themselves for cycling on the road and their specific journey

  • Plan to and ride where cycling is permitted

  • Understand advanced road positioning

  • React to hazardous road surfaces

  • Pass queueing traffic and use junctions controlled by traffic lights 

  • Understand driver blind spots

Cost

  • £75 per child (1:1)

  • £50 per child (course with 2-3 riders)
